Some people were right that in National Service, you would see people from different backgrounds, different characters and different personalities. Different walks of life. Holds true for me in this case. Some would be labelled as eccentric while some, maybe a little too 'garang'. My platoon a bit too slacking so we always get 'tongue-lashed' at. Saw a few familiar faces here and there during meal times. Some from polytechnic, some from secondary school and my attachment company friend is in the same company as me, just that he is in different platoon.

The day of enlistment, I was quite nervous but never expressed through my actions. Tried to remain calm and not to think too much. My Identity Card was surrendered over and I wouldn't be seeing it for about 2 years. First day was much of doing administration things and carrying over our army things back to the bunk. I didn't have my hair cut til the next day. So I slept with my hair on the first day! I looked really weird with very army style hair.

Training was quite tedious but nevertheless refreshing after that. I was surprised how I actually break my limit and didn't stop jogging with the platoon. Discipline is also important in the army as it holds in one of 7 core values of the SAF. And in the platoon, we have to be selfishless, we have to help one another, encourage one another and we would die as one, cry as one and laugh as one because we are together now.

The food here... Hmm.. how should I put it... Its not too good but its not too bad either. It depends what was served during that meal. But for me, most of them suit my tastes. Hey, when you are hungry, you don't really care about the quality of food. Lunch and dinner is always rice.

I did lose a few KGs here and there but I think the weighing scale ain't that accurate. I measured mine and I like.... lost 3 kg in 3 days?! Achieveable, but I don't look really slimmed down.

Now that the adaption period is over, real training and punishment will follow soon after. Thanks for my friends and family who sent me to Tekong and prayed for me during darkest hours.

On a side note, I think I experienced roughly 7 deja-vu's during these 2 weeks. The short dreams about NS I once had last time had happened in reality
